This weekend we took and impromptu road trip to the snow. We weren't even sure where we were going when we left on Saturday morning, but we were just trying to find out where the good snow was from earlier last week.
We decided to head to Flagstaff because we were sure we'd find snow there. We had a picnic in the truck of KFC, then bundled up to play. (I just bought the girls new coats with Christmas money from my Grandma and Grandpa Meyers. Thanks!)
They did great for about an hour while we sledded (it was really a very shallow hill and Tony gave them a hard push to start them off) and just played. Eventually the snow soaked through their shoes (we only had tennis shoes) and we headed back to the car to warm up and have hot chocolate.
We then decided to extend our day trip by heading over to Tony's mom's "cabin" in Snowflake to spend the night. (We will be spending New Years weekend there with some friends, so we wanted to make sure it was in good shape.)
Coming home today there was great snow at Forest Lakes, so we bundled back up and got out to play again. Today was much warmer and we were more successful with our snowball fights and attempted a snowman, but the girls lost interest and just wanted to run and play.
I am usually much more of a planner than I was this weekend, but it turned out to be a great weekend of making great family memories!
